The 2009 Ford Mustang will highlight the 45th anniversary of the Mustang. The new model will be based off the current S197 platform. Major changes will probably include body and chassis modifications along with some interior freshing up. Look for the 3-valve 4.6L to stay as it has proved to be a highly stable and worthy engine for Ford. Some rumors insist Ford will be using a 4 valve 4.6L or 5.4L V-8. Whichever engine Ford chooses for the 2009 Mustang be sure it will definately use DOD technology (Displacement on Demand) where as the engine can shut off 4 of the 8 cylinders to improve fuel economy and boost overall horsepower past the 300 mark.

Ford is getting pressure for a freshing due to the fact that GM and Dodge are planning rivals. GM is planning a revival of the Camaro and Dodge has put into production the Challenger which was last seen in the early 70's. It seems like the Pony Wars of the 70's are back again.

The 2009 Mustang should be available in the Summer of 2008.
