For the first stages of sheetmetal replacement. Trunk , tail-light panel, and drivers floor pan to be installed.

Then we get the car back and goto work. Seems i like to take one step forward and two back, we are going to remove the engine which we should have done while we had the tranny out......

Checklist after sheetmetal work is done:

Pull engine.
Clean up engine bay.
Install EZ wiring harness. Hook up dakota digital gauges.
Install new tail lenses and LED's.
Hook up some heater connections and new blower motor.
Take out entire dash before hand and then repaint a semi gloss i'm thinking. Along with rear panels.
Later comes headliner and interior.
Various other small things.
May install MSD box and distributor (still debating on that purchase)

Woohoo!

Sounds good, I wish I had the time to do all that. Are you going to get it painted also? Just wondering but how much will the body work cost you?

Your price may vary. But yes i am getting it painted after we do our part and its a package deal for $3500. Which includes that body work , bead blasting at a later date and the paint job with a 7-10 year gurantee on paint. Guy already has some amazing cars in his shop. He just went out on his own and opened his shop. The paint booth looks wow as well as all the equipment. Had another 68 camaro in the booth with like $40k invested. Every friggin bolt was chrome as well as screws and every other little piece you could think of.

Body shop guy was talkin of how that year camaro is'nt very rare and that the guy really shouldnt have spent that much. And pointed out that my car was rare-er (is that a word) If not i like having smoke blown up my.....

In short $3500

My fastback is about ready to go to the paint shop as well. We've dropped the drive train in, picking up the driveshaft late this week, don't have all the parts for the AOD conversion, but the last part MIGHT come in on Friday. Can't wait to hear it growl, it's been almost a year.

Thinking about a graphite-metallic color, perhaps 2 black stripes. Once it's out of the paint shop back to work on it, the finishing touches, probably take a few weeks....hopefully ready to drive by February. I hope, I hope!

Yeh im pretty excited trying not to think about it much, would just keep me up at night looking at pictures of what it might look like when finished lol. I did get a call from the guy today saying he had all the interior out and theres a local upholsteror he is going to call to come look at it and get me a quote. Was thinking 2 tone. If i do go with a silver/gray like metallic probably grey/silver clothe insert in the center and black around the edges.

It's looking good bnickel! I'm debating on doing the blackout on the lights myself. I have a hood scoop so not quite sure what we are going to do with the hood. My body man went ahead and ordered a new hood from dallasmustang. I talked with them and they got a new vendor on the repro hoods which are supposed to be thicker than the previous ones but still not as thick as the ford tooling. But i'm willing to give it a shot for $269. If it dont fit they can have it back.

Keep us updated bnickel. Also has anyone had their interior redone professionally? I got quoted around $1400 for headliner, carpet, seats with special inserts etc.

yeah mine will have the scoop too, they just haven't put it back on yet. they still have to color sand and then buff it out too. in case anyone is wondering why the top isn't all blue it's because i will be getting a new vinyl top on it after i get it out of the bodyshop and save another couple hundred bucks.

bswor, the price you got quoted for the interior sounds a bit high but not too far off, hell i got quoted 250.00 just to install the headliner i already have. then the seats are gonna be at least another 6-800 bucks but i have 86 gt buckets in the front and those are especially difficult to recover.

does anyone need any 69-70 parts? i have a ton of stuff i need to sell so i can bail the car out of the bodyshop. let me know, i have a bunch of stuff

Should look awesome when completed. Yeh i have mixed emotions on the price of the interior. My body man said that is a great price. I was asking for something different with the special inserts to give it a more dynamic look. The insert will be what ever color i finally decide on painting the car.

What parts do you have bnickel? Put them in the for sale section and see what happens from there.
