I am dying to add a 69 Shelby vert roll bar to my list of mods but I have always hated that round port hole for the window cranks. Since I will be doing an electric window conversion as well I would like to use this porthole for some rear speakers as there really is no good place to put them on a vert.
Cobranda tells me the port is 9" wide by 1" to 1 1/2" max in depth. I swear it looks deeper in pics of cars I have seen but I guess it can't be. I've looked at auto and marine and all kinds of things but can't seem to come up with something.
I'd be willing to use a smaller speaker and make a frame surround, maybe add a spacer for something that gives me another inch or so deep or even use a way smaller speaker if the depth is right and put an extra 9 or 10" grill over it.
If anyone comes across any options that fit these descriptions please let me know.

check out some 8" woofers, i think with the grille on top it would be really close to the right size.

I'll do that, thanks! So woofers alone are enough for the back? My only other speakers are the the dual 3 1/2" coaxial pioneers that are mounted to a plate for the stock dash location and of course 2 sets of the same units also in each head rest.

well you may need some mid's somewhere, either doors or buy some kick panels with speaker pods for them. i'd also suggest building some kind of enclosure provided there is enough room in those panels.

Yeah I dont want to chop my doors up really and I don't think those kick panels with the speaker pods look to great. I had once thought about modding my fresh air vent for speakers though. I mean older cars did not have them and with the top down they don't see much action. Unless that guy comes thru wiht a deal I may just hold off on this for a while then as I find the Shelby fiberglass panel a tad cheesy looking compared to the padded vinyl stock arm rest. Ijust love the look of that roll bar though.

well i haven't heard anything back from the guy yet. i'm afraid you're going to have to register yourself and ask him the questions.

No problem, just email me what you already said so I don't duplicate.
I'll still send out the tach I guess:shifty: . I was thinking of holding onto it until I get the hood one in just in case I need to tune the engine first but I can use my multi tester for that so send me your info as well.

Pak, I was under the impression that the kick panel was the fresh air vent, in the catalogs it looks like the kick panel w/ speaker setups they sell replace the little fresh air vent.

no, the ones that are made specifically for 69/70 do not replace the vent they just add a little pod down lower to mount the speakers in
