Hey all. I've got a 69 Mach One with a 377 stroker engine. I want to some advice on any air conditioning systems out in the market such as Old Air or Classic Auto Air. My Mustang came with air conditioning but the original owner didn't finish off the plumbing. So I purchased a new Sanden air compressor from John's Mustangs that came from Vintage Air. All I need is the hoses, filter dryer, vacuum lines for the dash switches, and the refrigerant of R134a, I think-maybe there some more stuff that missing. I have the orginal heater blower motor, though, which is still inside the car. Should I purchase a new heater blower motor? Please inform me on what is the best step to take on the air conditioning, thank you. Any input is greatly appreciated.

bswor,
Do you know anywhere there is information about add a/c to a non-a/c 69 coupe? I am trying to plan out what I need so that by nxt summer it will be all set up. Thanks.

So it sounds like you have all the under dash items then?

I think the AC vs non-AC package was quite different with the AC being much bigger than just a heater core and dampers.

With a good shop manual you should be able to see what you're missing. I'm interested in what it takes to use the sanden as well since I'll have to approach that someday.

PennState:
I know this isn't available anymore but I hope to use this dealer add on AC from Frigette some day.

Anyone have pics of Vintage or others in a 69/70? All the pics I see are in 65-68 cars.

I had the classic auto air installed in my car about a year ago and it works great! My car came with air but there is no comparisson.Let me know what pics you want and I will try to get them tomorrow. Not only is it much colder, its also super quiet. One thing though, My ignition switch burned up after the air install and I was told it was common problem with the a/c cars. There is actually a Ford replacement part with larger wires for cars with a/c. Other than that- no problems.

So the install re-uses the vents and main air handler box then?

I'm curious what one of these look/work like on a non-original-AC car.

My mach came from the factory with air, but everything under the hood was removed by the PO. I searched ebay and found a nice new Sanden SD7H15 compressor (this one's made for R134a) for $80 still in the box. Also from ebay, i purchased all three reproduction hoses for $30 each and a new drier for $25 from TexasRick on ebay http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1,1&item=8061273179&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWN%3AIT

Finally, i found a high efficient condensor on ebay from cssautoparts http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/69-70-Ford-MUSTANG-Mercury-COUGAR-AC-Condenser-a-c-NEW_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ33547QQihZ014QQitem Z330009538467QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWD1V

I will be charging it hopefully sometime next week with R134a. You don't have to buy all of those expensive kits if your car has everything under the dash.

I bought my condenser for around $80, so i have about $300 in everything that is under the hood. I'm sure it would have been closer to $800 for the same stuff from classic auto air. Just another option............
