lol, im not that good with photshop, but i was bored so I decided to mess around with it. now if you ignore the crappy photoshopping, what do you think:

Im not so sure anymore about the green in the headlight buckets as well as the racing stripes, but i am still thinking about the green stripes over black. oh well in any case its gonna be a while before im ready to paint it so I have a while to think about it.

and its ok if you think this is absolutely the worst idea for a paint job ever, let me know, its just a thought lol.

LOL a bit harsh, but the neon green is a bit much for me. Keep working with it and you will get better, its a learning experience.

LOL yea it was a bit harsh but the green is too much for me.

Green is more of a dodge thing anyways when it comes to stripes.

This kind of reminds me of the Green cuda with the black stripes err or is that a roadrunner??? That thing looks nice, i'll have to see if can dig up a picture of it.

that was my first impression too that it was a chrysler product although I couldn't remember which one. My folks had a 71 charger for about 2 months before my brother totalled it, however I think it may have been a buddies mid 70's duster that he had painted that I am thinking of, as far as the stripes go, I think the green is a little to much, maybe red or yellow and don't put it in the headlight buckets. Anyway, thats my two cents.

personally i think it might look pretty good if you reversed the color scheme

i was just trying to go for something juat a little more creative than your average racing stripe job, you see them so much so i thought id try it with some different colors. and yeah that is starting to look wierd to me too heh.

Try a deep red, almost burgundy, set of stripes. I bet that would look good.

I was also thinking of something more subtle like on this new mustang, exept only problem is the gray is kinda boring and reminds me of BMW's:

you could a non-metallic black with some dark metallic charcoal stripes.

I think something more subtle would be better. Or if you're into high contrast, try something more contrasty... maybe like a silver or white. I think my biggest issue with it is actually the location and size of the stripes. It's unique, but I don't think it's complementary to the hood design or the car in general. Consider using an original stripe design as a point of departure. Even consider using other manufacturers' stripes for ideas.

It's not that tough... just a little tricky... the toughest part is adding the texture to the stripes by using a noise filter and carefully modifying the contrast to get the right look.

hmm, i never really thought of using filters and contrast. Ill have to mess around with it some more.

Black with white racing stripes and red GT stripes:

I like these a lot better than my first try, but maybe the different color racing/GT stripes are too much still?

i think if you had all of one color and not two colors for racing stripes it would look better.

I really liked this guys paint scheme. http://www.cardomain.com/ride/582952/2 its silver with black rally stripes.

Yeh i agree one color on those type of stripes.

Debbie29379: The program that is being used is called photoshop. It cost a few hundred dollars if i remember correctly. But there are alternative methods of getting it... :)

Actually, Photoshop is available in a couple different versions, including a relatively inexpensive consumer level version called Photoshop Elements (like $60 or so). I've been using Photoshop Elements for most of my photochops since it came with my Canon scanner, which was only $45.

Anyway, you can do these kinds of photochops with most basic photo editing programs. I've used lots of different software over the years to try paint schemes or try on wheels... just a warning though: it's addictive.
